How is the build quality of the phone? I've only played with a G1 but found it to be a typically cheap piece of HTC plastic. I'm not expecting something with the pleasing solidity of the iPhone or iPod Touch, but any improvement over the G1 would be welcomed.
I was not crazy about the virtual keyboard that came with it. It was a pain to keep switching between the letters and numbers, and the spaces were so small that I kept hitting the wrong one. It takes a little messing around but you can use this one, the HTC IME which is very well thought out, and there are probably others:
Build quality is very good, much better than the G1 with the pop out keyboard that seemed like it was going to fall apart. I also think that all the complaints they received about battery life in that early model prompted them to put a better one in the My Touch. Take a look. You might be surprised.
