I am not taking a position on this but enjoy the back and forth. Learned a few things in the meantime. What I don't understand is why people keep saying this is not worth talking about yet keep posting. The thread has the highest number of posts and views.

Swampy & Samintx:

1) Do you believe that Obama's mother is a U. S. citizen, and by being so does not make him a citizen?

2) If so, what law do you believe supports your positions (a direct reference to the CFR's on the U. S. Government website would be helpful)?

3) Also, do y'all believe that McCain and Clinton had no interest to discredit Obama in regard to these issues?

Why are you posting this query to me? Have I posted anything remotely close to your questions? I have just been reading what others have posted.
Sam, sorry. I wasn't trying to single you out or be mean spirited. For some reason, I seemed to think you along with Swampy (and others to a lesser extent) had been the ones primarily asking these questions.

Yeah, I've been kinda wondering this as well. I can only guess that to some extent, being that the forum members asking the questions are not some random troll that just dropped in to stir the nest, but rather long time members of the community...we take them a little more seriously (probably not the best word to use), enough to actually reply.

I think there is just enough intrigue in it to keep it going. Does anybody know how much coverage this is getting beyond the deep, dark bowls of blogs? Seems like there is a fair amount of lawyering going on.

I sincerely doubt that the majority of people really take these allegations seriously enough to be even remotely intrigued. Only because there were enough interested parties (the other candidates in the Democrat primaries, and of course all the GOP) who had more resources to put some flesh on these rumors a long time ago.

As to the reason for the long threads-- entertainment. I'm saddened at the intent behind these "challenges" and the dishonesty of presenting them as being about some noble ideal of upholding our dear consititution, but also enjoying the right wing nut jobs banging their heads against the wall fruitlessly like I did for 8 years of seige.

Swampy is actually Obama's birth mother, having given birth to him in Indonesia when she was a missionary there. Through a series of unfortunate circumstances too convoluted to get into here, she had to sign an agreement that she would never reveal this truth, but instead has to go along with the Official Story that his adopted parents are his real parents. Angry at being denied the right to claim him as her own true son, she is planting clues all around the Friendly Political Forum in the hopes that a clever person will piece the facts together, reveal her secret, and at long last she will be acknowledged as Obama's true Mom without having to personally violate the terms of her contract, which would endanger her other Indonesian children as well as the ones in Honolulu. Watch for more clues tomorrow! It's the story of the decade!

Obama said at the Alfred Smith dinner

“Contrary to the rumors you have heard, I was not born in a manger. I was actually born on Krypton and sent here by my father Jor El to save the planet Earth,” he said.

Jor-El and Lara are Superman's birth parents

Oh. Well, it's a good thing I didn't bother wasting necessary grammatical elements on that statement.
