OK, here is what we did:
she was visiting our place, thus her XP Laptop was not available to try to sync.
I logged on to her school from my PBook and and downloaded the said PDF on my PBook. Then I email it to her gmail account. Once there, We could read it from Mail, and there was the option "Read In" (or something like that). Then the options were iBooks and FreePDF (?) and we chose iBooks and all is great... but I wish there was a simple way to do this (download a PDF from the web) directly on the iPad without a Desktop/Laptop. This damn PDF was online in a "frame" with more menus on the right hand side and some other buttons on the top frame.
