I got mine the same time, just before Black Friday. I also got three 2tb drives from Newegg for $59 each.
Hasn't had a hiccup since I set it up.

I got a Drobo from B&H a few months ago at the $300 price. Stuck 4 x 2TB WD Green drives in it, actually capacity for storage 5.4 TB. It's been pretty quiet and stable. I let the Drobo Dashboard software run its energy saving features on it. Not technical problems with it at all. I didn't need the NAS-y features.
