It's not surprising. It's an old joke hanging on from a weeks ago thread.

Oh. Yeah, most of the military people I know are really well educated. Same with all the farmers I know, which surprises a lot of people. kj.

J school. Then OTC. Then Spec ops schools. SEALS are quite possibly the MOST highly trained soldiers sailors in the US Army.

Most schools offer a B.S., rather than a B.A., in journalism, which I suppose is fitting.

Is Journalism really a Liberal Arts major?

I thought Liberal Arts was its own major.

"Liberal arts" includes a wide range of majors including humanities, social sciences, foreign language, history, math and science.
I was making a stupid joke.

You're failing to distinguish a "Liberal Arts Major" from a "Liberal Arts Curriculum," but that was easily understood from your post.
What?

I guess this lends credence to a variance of an old adage...

The best way for a liberal to get the point across to a conservative is to shoot the b@#$$d.

I actually have a two-year degree in "Liberal Arts." (Among other degrees.)

Liberal Arts is a major as well as a description of the curriculum. A Journalism major is not a Liberal Arts major, but involves studies in the Liberal Arts.

And now we've spent waaaaay more time on this than that thoughtless crack deserved.

I've never heard of a Bachelor's program with a major called "Liberal Arts." Yes it's a description of the curriculum, which is very broad.
Can you point me to a school that offers such a thing?

I did not indicate that it was a Bachelor's program. Nevertheless, there are BAs offered in that subject.

If you're genuinely curious about it, have you considered Googling for further info? I did a Google search and found that Harvard offers a Master of Liberal Arts degree in their adult extension program, which I found interesting.
