Could you write a novel?

I tried to start one once but it sounded too much like Catcher In the Rye and I couldn't change my "voice".

I love to write, and I think I could organize and write a novel (heck, my thesis was longer than most novels), but I prefer non-fiction these days. I think that truth is in many cases stranger and more interesting than fiction.

I wish I had the follow through.

The truth is stranger than fiction...

I know some crazy characters that get crazier over the years and when I talk about them they seem like fiction.

I've heard people tell the truth in their fiction and lie in their non-fiction. I think there's something to that.

5 down, nothing published.

I shoot for 50,000 words or more (a little over 200 pages). On the one hand I have little talent, on the other hand people who have tons of talent seem to phone it in after they are established (or they become raging alcoholics and can't do it anymore....Raymond Chandler anybody?)
