Glucosamine for my poochie?

Anyone tried the Trader Joe's stuff? I found it disconcerting that there is so much variety within their house brand offerings, including significantly different amounts of the same stuff being counted as one dose across sizes and varieties.

It's articles like this that make me leery of spending my money for a product that may not be effective:

I gave my Amber Cosequin DS for a number of years after she had been diagnosed with a spinal problem and it helped tremendously for the duration of her life . It was recommended to me by the excellent animal spinal surgeon that her regular vet sent us to at the time.

She recommended that specific brand so I can't comment about Glucosamine for humans or other brands.

Hopefully she's clear that it's her personal rather than professional recommendation-- there's absolutely no evidence as to the effectiveness of Glucosamine in joint health and a licensed therapist should not be recommending it.

I went to doctors quite a bit this year and was surprised that few recommendations had no scientific basis. makes me wonder about the role of science in their practice.

you just answered your own question. It isn't the science of medicine, it is the PRACTICE of medicine. Every single dog on the planet is a tiny bit different. Every single human is a tiny bit different.

Ever read the label on an allergy pill bottle? It may cause drowsiness, or it may cause hyperactivity. It just depends on the individual.

My decongestants don't have any noticeable side effects on my. On my GF they make her heart race, on her oldest son, he gets a migrane, on her youngest, he says he feels like he is "buzzing" Same chemical, 4 different bodies.
