No one is saying much about the MBP non RD speed bumps - really nice.

I like all of the hardware announced except the MP. I try to own something from every line for a little while at least. I'll be wheelin' & dealin' trying to land the i7 13" for my laptop in as month or two for under $1000 - I alwasy manage somehow...

the MBPR would be an AWESOME work machine for photo or video pros. I want one just because it's pretty. I'll try to get one in 6 months or so, but I ain't sure I'll be able to.

I was not tempted. Was hoping for a new Mac Pro announcement, but only from the perspective of wanting to keep the platform alive so that when I am ready to update, it'll be available. I just updated my Early 2008 Mac Pro from Quad 2.8 GHz Xeons to dual quad Xeons, and installed an SSD as my boot drive. So I'm probably set for quite a while. And while my 2006 Macbook is getting long in the tooth, I just got a new iPad, which pretty much does everything I ever used the Macbook for. I figure when OWC's 120GB 3G SSD drops below $100, I might put that in the Macbook to stretch its life a few more years.

And the wife is set. She has a 2010 MBP that I just upgraded the HD from 250GB to 750GB. And she also got a new iPad.

no desire. nada. none. zip. squadouche.

nuttin' new planned until fall of next year, 2103, when Baby Buzz [*hopefully*] heads off to college.

I found the new gear pleasant, but no "gotta haves" as far as computers are concerned; maybe a new airport express before fall '13, but that's about it.

The MBPRD will be nice to check out to see how much less glare it has in real life than the regular glossy glass covered MBP's; but checking it out will be as far as it goes... the de-Lionized hi-res anti-glare 2011 MBP w/ SL and SSD was my attempt at laptop future-proofing... I'm hoping for it to get through at least 2017.

I'm currently in love with my 2011 15" MacBook Pro 2.4G i7. I just maxed out the RAM this past weekend to 16GB (from MacSales.com, of course!!) and this thing is BLAZING fast.

> ... no regrets or envy about any of the new stuff. You?

Just annoyed.

My present desktop won't be able to run Mountain Lion or CS 6.

I'm planning an overhaul of my desktop, backup and network hardware all at once. The rumored updated Mac Pro would fit my plans very nicely.

Now that USB 3 has made an appearance on the MacBooks, it'll start to trickle down to other models. When the 27-inch iMac gets USB 3 to go along with the 2 Thunderbolt ports and FW800, it'll be tempting to compromise.

But I don't want an iMac. I want a Mac that can hold a bunch of speedy drives -- and lets me easily swap them around -- and has expansion slots for upgrading the video or adding ports when I need 'em. If I got an iMac, I'd have a mess of cables, adapters and drive-enclosures smothering my desk and I'd have to take the d@mned glass off just to swap the boot drive. Blah!

My MacPro won't run Mountain Lion, but I'm not going to replace it until they modernize the lineup.

I am tempted by the new Airport Express, though.

my temptation is more than offset by my financial standing.

27" i7 2.93
mac pro 3.1
macbook pro 15" 2.4

all of the above run snow leopard.
i would upgrade to mountain lion.

2 x 2.0 white macbook.

both run snow leopard.
both will not be able to run mountain lion.
(bummer)

i produce digital images-still and moving-the mac pro is still are great tool in fcp7.

i do need to upgrade the graphics card to fully employ cs6 and fcp x. i am hoping to make that transition by the fall 2012.

i REALLY wish apple provided a thunderbolt/usb 3.0 option for the mac pro.

that said, i would LOVE the new mbprd.

ymmv

be well.

I'm in for something. Was mainly looking forward to new iMacs but might just make the leap to a laptop.

My current 24" iMac core2duo is just not up to the task of my CAD, rendering and Photoshop needs.
