I was about to say "quit whining", but 99 in NYC is hot, so you just go ahead and keep on whining.

I was thinking the same, but remembered that its supposed to be cooler in NYC.

Our high for today is 111 with ash in the air. We will be at 99 degrees at 9pm tonight.

>>I must say, the air conditioning on subways is great. The problem is you have to get off - and the stations are much hotter than street level.

I can't understand why its so hot underground aside from unaddressed airflow issues. should be about 50 degrees year round.

I don't know how accurate it is, but the thermometer on my back deck reads 115 down here in VA just outside of WASHDC. Must be all that hot air blowing out of the Capitol building...

Sorry Steve. I've been up there & DC area for brief visits when it's been mid 90's, so I feel for you guys. It's been cooler than usual here in central FL, currently 84. I remember feeling guilty last summer when it was triple digits across the midwest and northeast, but 82-86 down here. Climate change??

Each person on that subway platform is a 100 watt light bulb (not talking about IQ) and that nice A/C in the subway cars has to output that heat somewhere - into the tunnels and stations.

And I dunno about you but I like my subway brats 'n kraut on the hotter side of 120°.
