Do you say the word "Goodbye" when you end a phone call?

I work with a couple people that don't end with any sort of "postscript" language to the call at all... they just hang up. Nice folks, both of them, but the only way you know the call was finished is that they hang up. You might have been pausing between sentences, and "click" - they were done.
Really really annoying.

Almost equally bemusing (but less annoying) is the lady who answers the phone "Hey, it's Lisa". Not "hello, this is Lisa", its always "Hey, it's Lisa".
Bemusing... but she's got a cute voice, so whatever.

Often it's "Nice talking to you," sometimes it's "goodbye."

If it's one of my kids, it's usually "I love you."
Not many others get that.

This thread is useless without a .wav file.

I prefer kthxbai! (that is when I just don't slam the phone down out of anger or disgust which is most of the time I'm actually involved in a VOICE transmission)...

'Bye

'Bye-Bye

The deviations are usually:

I'm on my way

Later

Talk to you later

'Night

'Goodnight

Around here I've noticed people saying "mmm-bye." I recently caught myself doing that as well.

Then there is my mother-in-law, a classic example of Paul F.'s friends: -- talk-talk-talk--click...

Of course not.... because I'm a character in a bad movie/TV drama. I get home, flip on the TV which instantly shows me the news bulletin with the salient plot point. I turn off the set just as the phone rings.

All I say is:
Yes?
What's that? Brett is heading to the lighthouse because Mandy said to meet him there? But...
Yes, I know. Mandy's in the hospital. Brett's being lured... to his death!
I'll take the badly eroded coast road in the lightning storm and get out there as fast as I can.

This made me laugh! Thanks -- it comes from spending too much time checking out TVtropes.com. And watching too many bad movies. Hey, I guess that WASN"T wasted time if it made someone laugh...

B'bye!
