They *are* proud of that lamp!

There is almost always a heavier price exacted for new tech, especially when it's designed with a graceful blend of style and substance.

One question for design enthusiasts-- what is the 'organic' component of that lamp's style? Is it the round base? Or is the design reminiscent of a flower or plant?

I like it, but it's out of my Rationalization Range.

About 28 years ago I retrofitted an adjustable study lamp with a 100W C3 halogen bulb but I stopped using after six months it because it was so. danged. hot.

Send me the parts of a desk lamp and the LED you want installed and I will try to craft it for you.

OMG, I have the floor lamp version of that lamp from IKEA and it is a worthless POS.
With a 3000K LED in it, it is a fantastic reading lamp, but the lamp itself decides to flop backwards into the wall or floor, or forwards like a drunk's face in a toilet. Sometimes for no readily apparent reason.
If it weren't for the fact I'm stubborn and insist on using it because I bought it I'd take it outside and suffer it a thousand deaths if for no other reason than to ascertain the impossibility of it ever wreaking it's infuriating lack of adjustable functionality on another human being.
