Go the 'hobby' route and only consider a retail space if the biz demands it. Start with a shipment from europe and sell the stuff on line here.

Take from an experienced ebay seller - if this is a new area where money can be made, others will be watching. It's likely that others that are already in a position for this kind of operation could simply swoop in and take the market that your wife created.

I say NO investment in the operation to start (other than buying the product for resale) and only invest when the biz grows to the point where expansion is the only way forward.

I quit my job because I saw an opportunity on ebay. Within two years, I was muscled out of that market, but used my experience to find other opportunities and am still at it.

The strip malls around here are full of peoples little dream shops and they ALL end badly. All of them.

If you do start a business, consider setting it up as an LLC, from the outset. That would be the cheapest and easiest way to go.

And safest.

I've read where Pinterest is now a hot way to sell online. I barely still understand Pinterest, thought it was an online pin board for categories of stuff you like. Don't see where sales factor into it, but maybe some of you do?

Well, when I was little, they didn't have Gummi bears in the US yet, so a German friend of ours was my only source of supply. She would bring them back when she went back for a visit.

Might be something like that. Big Grin
