Competition shooting in several different disciplines.

Gun collecting (mostly target guns, and older pre-WWII military rifles... and a smattering of other arms...).

"Making stuff" - woodworking, blacksmithing, jewelry making, knifemaking, metalwork in general... none of these I'm really professional at, but I have fun and make some useful stuff.

History... no real specialization other than generally being more interested in western history than eastern or southern.

Oh.. and porn... (kidding... uh, mostly... ).

[quote davester]Playing soccer, driving my convertible in the countryside, travelling to exotic destinations, being outdoors, skiing, sailing, listening to great folk, blues and rock (preferably live), appreciating art. Hey, I could do all those things in one trip!...well perhaps not the skiing part.
Just go to the island of Hawaii.

You can do all of it in a weekend.

I live with several cats & keep 8 tortoises (4 different species) & lately have been making completely useless things out of copper. I've also got MANY house plants, which are all outside until it gets too cold, & have been devoting LOTs of time to the 65 year old house I bought last October.

Other than that, I just watch TV & read.

I'm glad you mentioned passions as well as hobbies.

Besides being a Mac guru, I am a lifelong fan of Doctor Who, and love travel, looking at architechture, the arts (particularly cinema and theatre), music (wide tastes, but am particularly fond of synthpop from the late 70s/early 80s), writing (long career being published professionally), graphic design (I guess that's Mac related, but I was in it before computers were the standard), public speaking/radio announcing and astronomy.

I am passionate about my marriage, bringing "secular democracy" back to America, moving to Canada (next year sometime), teaching Mac fluency to switchers young and old, aetheism, and public television/radio.

I find it amazing that nobody (apart from Paul F, kinda) mentioned sex as one of their passions. It's certainly one of mine. Before sex, it was masturbation. I think I got a black belt in masturbation, or whatever they give people who practice A LOT. Smile

Mine have evolved as my kids have grown. When my son was younger and in Little Leauue, I was a LL assistant coach and umpire. I collect classic baseball books, in hardback whenever possible.

My daughter is a volleyball player. I played before kids came along, and I coached her teams early in YMCA. As she got older, I became a USAV referee for a while, then a team photographer, webmaster and DVD builder, which I'm still doing. She is a Junior, having made varsity as a Freshman and lettering as a Sophomore.

I was in a bowling league for several years, carrying a 190 average. High series was a 649. High game was a 289.

When my kids started needing furniture, I returned to my old HS shop days and began building furniture.

Not long ago, I general contracted the remodling of our kitchen. I also did the wiring, plumbing and appliance installation. Since the new kitchen was done, I've taken up cooking. Food Network is an addiction, and Giada is a babe.

My son heads to UTexas as a freshman Saturday. So my next chapter begins with a college child as a hobby.

Life is a journey, not a destination. Plan for the trip, and enjoy it along the way.
