Wurst name for a restaurant ever?
#11
There used to be a restaurant here when I was a kid named "Sambo's". I remember that the kids menu was made so that you could punch out eye and mouth holes to turn it into a mask of a tiger.

k Jowct- certainly that is truly a horrible name. The worst (funny) bad name I ever encountered was the "Squat and Gooble". A small restaurant that was briefly in business here in our small town in Iowa. I guess it would have been worse if the sign panter had gotten the words out of order... Dave
...on the trailing edge of technology.

Matthew Yglesias pointed out that while we consider Nazi stuff taboo, Stalinist/Communist stuff is practically kitsch now: "When I lived in the Boston area, I used to go to People's Republic in Central Square. When I'm in New York City I've been known to frequent KGB Bar and while I think it may have closed, Nikita on MacDougal Street was definitely more Nikita Khruschev than La Femme Nikita."

If I opened a restaurant here in Ventura, I know where it would go, and what we'd sell, and even what we'd call it: Ernesto's Beach Pizza. Not offensive, but certainly an awful name, no?

There was a restaurant in Ithaca called Billy Bob Jack's Outhouse. I did a Google search and it looks like it is still there.

Once in Rockford. Il for a buddy's wedding, we past a place called "Tub o' Tips"
I guess it was Beef tips.

We also had a great burger stand nearby that was called "Murder Burger" it was decided that that was not PC so they had a contest for a new name--now it is REDRUM BURGER. Redrum-Murder selled backwards from the great thriller movie.
