Does anyone listen to AM radio anymore?
#11
I do at night. I don't have TV and I'm bored with current music. But, AM radio is usually boring. There's lots of nutters talking about ghosts and UFOs, as well as ranting and raving right-wingers.

Once in a while I'll turn on Dave Ramsey but more likely I'll have NPR on the FM station or play the flash drive with my mix of mp3 files. I would not really notice if all AM radios went dead.

All the time. I love the hate talkers, a laugh a minute as they work themselves into a froth.

AM radio home of the left wing nutters that continually misquote DailyKos, Mediamatters, Talkingpoint memo, Ariana, Truthout and many other bastions of american insanity like these.

Sports mainly. Occasional news/traffic*.

*While phone based nav is great, it's too difficult to ferret out accident info while driving alone (or w/ passengers not skilled in the art of using phone to drill deeper into traffic info), so news/traffic radio can be helpful.

Thought I heard a while back AM was going to go digital so there would effectively be no difference from FM... not sure what happened with that.

We have a couple of interesting local talkers on in Chicago, so most afternoons I choose one or the other. It seems weird to still be firing up the GE Superradio in the age of online streaming, but the stations can't stream their commercials (due to music clearance, I think.) I find the repetitive PSAs they substitute even more annoying that 1-877-CARS-4-KIDS.

Sports.

Did listen to KGO at night, number of progressive shows. A few years ago, the owners (clear channel or cummulous) fired everybody except a morning guy who had an iron clad contract. So much for that...
