Was just considering upgrade paths. Most TB drives also feature USB3 as a connector option, which I failed to point out.
There's no FW800 to USB3 adapter that I've come across, so my FW800 to TB was a stop-gap solution.

Yeah, sure, except for a 1 TB portable Tbolt/USB 3 drive is $200.
A USB 3 only one is $60.

Its not a bad one if TB was close to price, or maybe even 10X the speed.
But its not on either account... =(

Agreed. Wish Apple would have gone all-in with USB3 back when it became the standard on the other side of the shop. At least it's looking like USB-C will be the norm soon.
Of course, it's still better than the ADB and SCSI days.
And by the time everything finally settles on one port standard, everything will be wireless.
