Why Is This Home Priced So Inexpensively? (U.P. Of MI)
#11
It looks like it's on a dirt road and also near the county airport flight pattern.

It is just the age where it could still have asbestos in the construction if the builder hadn't used up their materials. MI is flaky about property search, need to pay to get a county report that lists: taxes, owner, garage, water, sewer, etc.

Edit: wow, 170 miles to the nearest Costco. That means it's technically out in the sticks. City-Data.com says the county has a lot of older people that are dying. It could be there are a low percentage of families with children and the schools are struggling even though the Zillow school rating isn't terrible for Ironwood.

From looking at the satellite view, it looks like it's very close to train tracks.

How's the TV reception?

Talk to the neighbors, they'll help.

Good point, rail crossing not too far away. It could have a 130 decibel horn blowing at 4 AM every morning. I got really tired of living a few blocks from two different train tracks in Sacramento. Amtrak went East-West, Southern Pacific went North-South.

if you check for a list of homes for sale in the same zip code that's a median price for the area

and it does look like it could be a ski slope (seasonal) rental , on the way to Timbuktu.

Those ski houses are often little more than frames.

Doesn't hurt to have a look.

Call the agent or owner for a tour and don't buy anything without a reliable inspection by a licensed/bonded professional.
