Had one of those moments a couple of weeks ago when I met with some people from a university I attended. I was half afraid to ask about some of the teachers I’d had in case they were dead.

I was just reminiscing with a friend that I purchased an Apocalyptica album somewhere around 1995 from CDNow before they were purchased by Amazon. They were literally operating out of a garage/train station at the time.

I'm jolted when I see commercials on TV that have background music from 60s rock groups. When I was listening to the radio back then, the music was the reason. I never thought that one day that music would be just background for ads.

Now, a song might appear in countless commercials BEFORE its album is even released. :oldfogey:

But if you read further down, it's kind of cool how artists can get exposure they never would have gotten. Some may say it's selling out, but it's just just publicity isn't it? A chance for new audiences to discover their work.
