Ocasek lied about his age because he was older than a lot of his peers when The Cars really hit.
RIP: Ric Ocasek [ 'The Cars' ] @ 75.....

Wasn't too big a fan of them, but the open chord sequence of "It's All I Can Do" remains one of the best and surprising I've ever heard.

"Doesn't anybody f'ing know anymore?"
R.I.P. - also glad they got inducted into the RnR HOF. They deserved it.

RIP Ric. I wasn't aware he was that old either. Lots of great music.
I remember getting into an argument with someone back in the late 80s. I said something about the Cars being a "New Wave" band, and he was adamant that they were a "Rock" band. Kinda pointless, I know. The fact that he ended up with Paulina Porizkova pretty much confirmed that guitar players get all the good looking women...

“Drive” is one of my all time favorite songs.

R.I.P.
I grew to like the Cars after I initially panned them. MTV certainly solidified their success. I also was shocked he was 75 Y.O.

Thrift Store Scott wrote: Aside from his considerable musical contributions, Ric Ocasek is the man who introduced what was then known as a "Bi-Level" haircut (and would later go on to be retroactively and derisively known as a "mullet" thanks to the Beastie Boys) to the world, and no-one ever wore one better. Always looked like a wig to me. And I would argue that Paul McCartney in the 70s is the only one who ever wore a mullet that looked cool.
