Looks like your kids might be ready to learn how to do an oil change ;-)
If their dad doesn't know how to do it, they're not gonna do it ;-)

Second the Techron suggestion (came here to write the same). But if you notice a better idle after, you may actually need a throttle body cleaning. My guess isb they they were just going to stick a cleaner pipe into the area and not actually remove the part. Proper way to do it is to remove the part.

Hey, just an FYI, I don't do much hands-on with really modern stuff, but I do keep up with the basics. Any serious questions, I ask my partner's oldest son. He is pit chief for a number of BMW road race teams that run Spec E30 and E46 (the M3s).

They’ve also seen me work on projects around the house. “Monkey see monkey do”, my daughter has a play drill and screw driver set. She fixes things around the house “like daddy”.

Full synthetic Mobil 1 6 quarts 5w 30 cost $25 -$30 just for the oil + oil filter $7. So $20 is a no brainer only if full synthetic.

Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years. Find an independent shop to do it as they should be >half the cost of the Stealership. Your car should not need a "Fuel Service" at 50K... this is made up BS to put some easy money into the service departments pockets.

Harbourmaster wrote: That was true on my older cars which used DOT3 brake fluid. The new cars use newer versions, I think 4 or 5 and require new fluid less often. |
