I have one of these and find it way more comfortable to wear than the alternatives. Would love to wear it out and about, but I wonder how much it would freak others out.

FWIW, a hepa filter is more effective than an N95, but probably harder to breathe through. And you'd have to shape it into a mask that wraps around your nose, because if air is leaking around the edges of the mask, it's much less useful. That's one reason a bandana is useful, because it can be adjusted to leak less.

Specifically, experts have come to believe that the virus may spread through the dispersement of exhaled aerosol particles by asymptomatic infected persons, whereas before it was believed the virus could only spread through droplet particles. Aerosol particles are much smaller than droplet particles and can disperse much farther from the body via sneezing, singing and even speaking normally. Experts now believe wearing a mask blocks may help to block the dispersement of droplet AND aerosol particles.

that makes sense. There is a big cluster here in Western Washington near Mt Vernon where a regional choir was practicing. They were essentially doing everything right, but it is believed one or more were asymptomatic, and the heavy volume of exhalation was causing aerosolized virii to be wafting around the room.
