Pretty much any dual processor G5 will have many years of usability to look forward to. No telling how long Apple will support pre-Intel macs with their OS, but I imagine by the time that day comes the G3/4/5 hardware wouldn't really be all "teh snappy" anyway.
Sure, OS X 10.4 will run on a Bondi iMac (233MHz G3, 66MHz bus) but who even uses that computer anymore? It was released in August of 1998, over 8 years ago. These G5 you are comparing are all under 3 years old. Obsolessence just happens sometimes, no matter what you do.
