[quote davemchine]I'll add a twist to the thread. What are you planning to buy aftert MWSF? I just sold my G5 tower and I'm planning to buy an iMac.
I've got a couple of big ticket items waiting on MWSF... I'm about to take the HDTV plunge. As of now, my choice is the Samsung 4695 LCD. But I want the gear to be able to run OS X, FrontRowish iTunes, video over the internet (Apple.com movie trailers, for example) and streamed media from my PowerMac upstairs. So I'm prolly looking at an iTV and maybe a new 802.11n router. I'm about to put the trusty ol' Pismo out to pasture... and buy a MacBook or MacBook Pro. As of now, it'd be a black MacBook. =-=-=-= Oh... one more thing. (heh) Steve will announce 802.11n cards to retrofit current Airport cards in PMacs, iMacs and 'books.

Apple will finally right the biggest wrong and come out with the rocket packs that we were promised back in grade school in the Weekly Reader.

802.11n isn't on track to be ratified until 2008, so that's a tricky one to navigate. If they ship some sort of pre-n spec, I'd expect new Airport base stations and software updates to the Intel Macs that unlock their 802.11n functionality already present in their wireless chipsets.
I think Apple will announced some stuff that's not necessarily going to ship right away, such as the iTV and the phone. I'm a bit torn as to whether the true video iPod is close enough to being ready, but I could lump that in the same category. New monitors would be good. Built-in iSight, 17" widescreen (though I find I'm spec'ing out third party 20" widescreens at minimum these days because they're so cheap), hopefully a height-adjustable stand and sizable price cuts, please. The 23" model will probably become 24", as it seems those panels are becoming the norm in the industry. iWork will add a spreadsheet application. A couple of new movie studios will announce signing on to iTunes. A few more killer features of Leopard will be unveiled. I still don't see Apple producing its own HDTVs. Not sure what they would add to the party, and I presume most people would be more interested in adding iTV as a peripheral rather than having it stuck inside their TV. Octocore Mac Pro with some motherboard improvements across the entire Mac Pro line, hopefully a better entry-level video card and SLI support. I can't expect much change in the iMac, MacBook, and MacBook Pro, as Intel doesn't have any faster Merom CPUs AFAIK. Maybe fix the 3GB RAM limit and upgrade the GPUs? That'd tide us over until Santa Rosa in a few months. I actually expect no changes for now. I don't expect a 12" MacBook Pro yet, either. Maybe by the summer. Would love to see some significant changes and/or price cuts on the Mac mini. It's a poor buy compared to the iMacs. Either signficantly improve its specs or significantly lower its price. And come out with a midrange, Conroe-based minitower already! Clearly, this post has devolved from predictions to mere wishful thinking. ![]()

I'm glad they will be Apple rocket packs. The Windows rocket packs crash all the time, or just plain lock up. Real BSOD. Who has time to find a missing .dll at 300 feet?

I plan on getting a couple of iPods and 24" iMac shortly after MWSF.
IF there were a 12 MBP, that would change everything! Otherwise it might be the 50" HD ACD. THAT will be a pretty penny. There's been no FCC sighting on new and SuperCool phones, so I don't know what to expect. I predict forum members will make the same lame predictions of whining and disappointed forum members. OH, that's already come to pass. Ken, how are you going to follow the text postings "during the trip"? Cell phone modem? Sprint card in your MBP? I'm trying to catch the postings and then scoot over to the show.

I'm looking for a 30" iMac to be announced. But I have been predicting that for the last couple of years.
If they *DO* announce it tomorrow, big dent in my wallet forthcoming.
