I need a really cheap microwave
#11
I assumed he was putting microwave #2 on the patio to avoid orders in house. I could be wrong though.

Personally I just pop the corn in a pot on the stove. Quick, easy, no smelly chemicals. Here is the popcorn I use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YL...le?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For making popcorn, a Stir Crazy is the way to go. We use one daily at work. Use coconut oil for a theater experience.

we no longer go to the movies. Large screen TV at home, but kids and wife still want popcorn. She does it in our microwave but it stinks. Need to wipe with vinegar after each round of popcorn

I don't understand why you want another microwave - the popcorn is still gonna cause a stink that requires frequent cleaning

yeah, I forgot to mention, this unit would stay in the garage or outside.

Microwave popcorn smell isn't great and doesn't bother me, except for the smell it imparts on subsequently cooked foods.

So that means cleaning it after cooking popcorn.

The really annoying smell is burnt popcorn.

I knew someone who was banned from cooking popcorn in the duty microwave, unless she sat in front of it for the entire 3-3.5min it took to cook it.

Those silicone poppers look to be just the ticket for me.

A Stir Craze or any other dedicated electric popper just takes up more room than I want, on the counter or in the cupboard.

I found a 'single serving' size (yeah, right— about 3/4 of a bag of popcorn) that collapses.

Durability for high usage might be an issue, but it should work fine for me.

Thank you for that, Tominator!

I really love this one. Used mine for years.

There's a trick if I want to make two batches back to back. I rinse the OUTSIDE of the bowl in cold water, especially the bottom (encased metal plate), to get it back to "room temp". Wipe dry the outside. Add about 5 extra second to cook time.

I never get the inside of the bowl wet. All seasonings are added after. (But that's me.)

One you learn the precise time your specific microwave needs to cook, it's a very convenient and reliable way to cook popcorn kernels.

Our new higher power microwave takes 1min 30sec to pop almost all the kernels to fill the lidded container without burning any.

I rarely cook two servings back to back, so I don't know if it reduces the time to cook to any noticeable extent.
