my carts run $300 each CMY and $200 for black, and supposed to get 15,000 prints per cart with 5% coverage. $180 for imaging units, which last 2 X the toner
im lucky if i get 5,000 sheets
So your ink costs per letter size page are around 14 to 15 cents? And the imaging unit only gets you 5000 pages at $180, for 3.6 cents?
I see a total for you of around 18 cents per letter size page. Does that figure right?
How does that compare with inkjet? Is that still about half or less?
Of *course* you've paid 10X the cost of the printer in ink. Pay me now or pay me later, as they say.
You could just buy a $40,000 printer and spend a flat 9 cents or less per page for everything, including maintenance, and that would be a 12x18 page to boot.
Pay me now or pay me later, right? Over 55,000 pages, that would be $44,950, or almost 82 cents/page with hardware and supply/maintenance costs.
Or do a bunch more, say 550,000 pages over the same time, and that $40K printer would give you 17 cent prints taking into account both hardware and supply/maintenance costs.
And if you did everything on 12x18 stock, if you printed all your letter size stuff 2 up, each letter size print is then 9 cents--everything included.
It's all in how you do it.
