Not really sure about that energy generation threat. The grid is all connected; when the Big Blackout hit the northeast, Canada's southeast was part if it. Generators just dump energy into the grid. It's not like there a single cable stretching over Niagara Falls. And cutting back on generation just means you'll have excess generation capacity you can't use, nor be paid for.

I am saying Canada just shutting us off is not as easy as the sound bite implies. I'm not speaking to the domestic production to make up for it.

I'm not sure it would actually happen, but yeah, I think it is just that easy if they want to. Much of it is hydro power, and they can just decrease flow through the turbines and shut off the lines south.

What is upsetting is Trudeau saying the United States launched a trade war, we did not - just one egotistical fool launched it and the rest of us are being dragged along kicking and screaming. He is not the United States, just a painful cyst on its buttocks.

Also: After crawling back up all afternoon, the stock traders decided to ditch out at the end. Dow finished down another 670. All other broad indices similarly in the red.

Both Best Buy and Target warned today that they expect Y/Y sales growth to be 1% or less (ie not even keeping up with inflation). Both said prices will increase.

but, yeah, if they decide not to send electricity to us, we are fuqued. there is no additional capacity in the Northeast, unless we re-commission some nuke plants. and the coal plants are down to one here now.
