Forum Tesla owners.....any of you experience hate or vandalism in all the time you've owned a Tesla?

I just saw this, not sure how accurate it is, I am not familiar with the "Metro" website and this is via MSN, so take it with a grain of salt until it's confirmed.

Did you see something in the media that prompted this post? My brother in law and neighbor directly across the street from me have Tesla. They love their Tesla. Other than longer than usual wait times for repairs, they have no issues or complaints.

Personally, seeing the Model X with the gull-wing rear doors being used still gets a little chuckle out of me Smile

Someone in our local Tesla owners club posted about a verbal incident today. So I got to thinking about how common is this issue?

I haven't...yet.

It's interesting that the vandalism used to be directed at the chargers in the form of rednecks parking their trucks in front of the chargers or cutting the cords. Now it's woke liberals defacing and attacking the vehicles themselves and possibly the service centers. It's ironic that people are trying to deface the cybertruck and realizing that it's really difficult. You can just wipe off paint with some solvent. Dry-erase marker will remove permanent marker, and anything else can be sanded off if absolutely necessary.

Unfortunately we live in a culture that now casually equates criminals with "woke liberals"

None in a year of ownership. I honestly only know a handful of people who own them, but among those, I know of no incidents in 3-5 years of ownership.

That said, I've been thinking about it a lot lately. Probably because of the algorithms that hit me in Threads, and I just can't resist lurking in the comments that make me pretty sick. I detest the company owner and every thing he stands for, but owning a car you like is not and never will be a political statement. To stigmatize and condemn people over a product preference—whether it was before or after they learned he was a lunatic—is a weak and hateful kind of stance.

I totally get why someone wouldn't touch the brand with a ten foot pole out of principle or why they may cheer for the brand to fail, but to assume people are buying a vehicle because they identify with the owner is pigheaded.

I saw this Tesla owner publicly apologizing for owning one, but this was back in 2023 and was more related to Twitter/X.

I think ICE/Hybrids having their catalytic converters stolen outnumber Tesla's being vandalized.

Over 10 years of ownership and over 250,000 miles with many lengthy road trips, as my only vehicle.
Never any problem at all. I can remember in the early days an occasional diesel pickup would “Roll Coal“ but that was about it.
The current turmoil will likely go away soon.
The actual incidents are limited in numbers, but, it gets over amplified due to click bait.
The cars are fun to drive, have incredible technology, and are the highest rated of any cars in safety, especially in safety to the occupants of the car.
The car gets software updates about once a month, and many new features are included, all, for free.
There are some aggressive prices and financing on Model 3 right now, and now that the new Model Y is out, there are super deals on the previous generation.
I recently gave a presentation to our HOA debunking the myths of EVs and Batteries,
