OT: I think I'm a dirty old man....

The real trouble is that NOW, many very young girls dress and act like they're in their late teens. And they're not.

You're lucky if the girls with the nice tas, tight tops, or low cut dresses ARE 18-20.

Yes, definitely sunglasses.

Sunglasses are a great invention.

College town by the beach, movie studios in town, this is a great place for eye candy.

There are millions of years of evolution at work here. In fact, for most males the visual attraction towards females begins as the female reaches sexual maturity. And this is true across most mammalian species. When you think about it, 18 is just an arbitrary age we have chosen in this country (as in most) to divide children from adults. One day (on the eighteenth birthday) it is suddenly acceptable to look at "adult women" where the day before it was perverted. Undoubtedly, some of the "18 or 19" year old women you ogled were 16 and 17.

I don't think that it is perverted or dirty for a man or woman of any age to be visually attracted to another sexually mature member of the same species. Acting on this attraction, OTOH, can be psychologically damaging to the actors and should be discouraged by the society. Over time, evolution has optimized the steps required to reproduce and visual attraction is a very important part of that process. It is best to accept and acknowledge this as a normal function of the human animal than to turn it into a cultural taboo.

I think to be objective, this analysis requires PHOTOS.

I still haven't recovered from a case of whiplash that resulted from moving my daughter out of her women's college dorm last week (think coeds in various stages of dress/undress running up and down the corridors).

Well, since I'm not married, I don't see anything wrong with my looking at and dating legal-age young women, so long as I follow the same rules as JoeH.

I don't recall what the "age rules of thumb" are nowadays, but personally I don't see how it's anyone's business but my own (and the young lady) as to our age difference(s).

Just remember 17 will get you 20.

Some years back, I was delivering some fund-raising materials to a high school cheerleader squad at the same time they got their new uniforms. Suddenly, here were all these lovely 16 and 17 year olds stripping down to their skivvies in the gym to try on the new uniforms.

Sprained both eyeballs, and seriously overexerted my moral character. Also made me feel exceedingly old; why couldn't the girls I knew in high school have been like this?

As an old friend used to say:
Put an icepack on it, the swelling will go down...
