Doesn't the Office 2008 Media Edition come with some sort of image cataloger that is pretty highly regarded?
I am still using Office X

I still use Office V X, too, purchased for $199 with a G4 iMac (lamp model) some years ago. I haven't liked M$ Word since 5.1 for Mac, so use TextEdit or Mariner Write (excellent) for word processing. Excel 3.0 still works fine for me, but it doesn't run in my MacBook Pro, so I use VX for spreadsheets.

Entourage is a whole lot more stable in 2004.
From what I hear, 2008 is a dog.

I'm still on v.X here too, but have been punished by it to the point that I waited up until midnight to hop on the BF upgrade deal. Too many lost documents and random freezes in word anymore, and I actually want some of those more esoteric excel function that v.X lacks. I'll give them $30.

Your mail database in Entourage 2004 can be double the size of v.X.
This is important if you save lots of mail with attachments, and your database is prone to corruption. I learned this at my last job; one client's v.X mail was seriously farked.

[quote N-OS X-tasy!]Still using Office v.X here, too, but that may change soon -- I got in on that great BF deal for Office 2004 (only to get the cheap upgrade to Office 2008, though).
Ditto. And even though it was projected to ship after Christmas (which would have been too late for the $100 rebate), it shipped today! Other than occasional Entourage wonkiness, I still haven't had any major problems with v.X--even in Leopard—but I'm not a heavy user. The only reason I got in on this was for the easy upgrade to 2008. [quote Ammo]Doesn't the Office 2008 Media Edition come with some sort of image cataloger that is pretty highly regarded? Yes. Expression Media is the Microsoft-branded version of iView Media Pro 3.0. Unfortunately, as a long-time iView user, I already have this after finally caving in and getting the 3.0 upgrade last year. It included a free upgrade to Expression Media when it was released, but I see no real difference other than gingerbready Microsoft cosmetic changes to the buttons. The iView buttons were never my favorite in the first place, but I still prefer them to the Microsoft version. I still have both programs installed, and I usually use the iView version.

I'm still working with Office X as well. I don't have an Intel Mac yet and it seems to be working okay for me. At work I use Office 2000 via Crossover on Linux... I guess the two versions are relatively compatible with each other. I'm not a real heavy user of the Office programs - I mainly use it for some of the paperwork associated with my job.
Seems like I have been skipping every other 'upgrade' - I had Word 5, then used that to upgrade to Office 98 when I bought my first iMac. I upgraded to Office v.X a little while after it came out because I had some concern about trying to keep Office 98 going via Classic. I purchased Office v.X on 11/24/01 so I've been using it for six years now. I've been glad to hear that people have been able to use vX in Leopard - good to know because I wouldn't be ready to upgrade right away. Then again I'm still using Panther most of the time so it may be a while before I go to Leopard anyway.

yeah, add me to the list. I have pretty much no reason to upgrade. Yet.
I hardly use Word ever, Excel mostly for finance stuff. Powerpoint is the bane of my existence, although the wife uses it pretty much every day for her research presentations. Once I go Intel that will be the last straw.

I have Office X and it sits me fine. But for $25 for the latest version (2008) why not get it. Plus the Student and Teacher version allows for three installations.

My newest version of office is '98 (classic)-- still comes in handy when Appleworks can't translate a word doc.
