WIndows Users in Denial

It's probably less painful for them to buy another PC than to admit they spent more and switched to a Mac.

Crazy, but true.

[quote Paul F.]Some people cut themselves, puncture themselves with metal bits, eat okra, and stick foreign objects up their rectums for entertainment too..
Geez, now that image is stuck in my head!

Eating Okra that is.

About a year ago, I talked to about 6 people in a row who told me something like: My computer is locked up/in the shop/dead. Not a one of them wanted to hear anything about the possibility of buying a Mac.

perhaps, they didn't know enough about Macs so it was "fear of the unknown".

It's the classic Stockholm Syndrome.

Paul, there's nothing pathological about eating okra.

my brother in law has been wanting a mac for years, but my sister won't let him buy one because "they're too expensive!". Yet, he's been through at least 3 PC's in the last few years because they get so bogged down with viruses and spyware that they become unusable.

He sent me an email last week and said he's going to buy one anyway. Should be interesting...

What's interesting is how people can't be bothered with reason, logic, facts or an open mind if it interferes with their beliefs. Same with computers, too.

at the risk of veering off topic (i won't) - belief and logic do not often overlap much.

i think computer choice is not so much faith/belief as being stubborn and/or cheap.

as we all know well, every computer can crash, require an OS reinstall, or have a hard drive or other component die prematurely. adding the high risk and bother of spyware defense seems like too much work to me.
