After Nearly Ten Years Of eBay, I Am Off To CL
#11
Not sure if any of y'all have heard of this, bit it looks promising:

www.wigix.com

Seems like it's more tailored for commonly sold items with a fixed price rather than unique one off type stuff that are more suited for an auction type format. Was setup by a guy who created the computer system for some large online stock trading company (can't remember which).

[quote chipsteĀ®]I am looking for a musical instrument. Each time I search CL it only searches a particular area. Any way to search all of CL?
Google does a great job of searching craigslist. include "craigslist.org" in your search term and it will pull up results from all areas.

Yes, but will not be long before they've bought majority stake.
Doubt it...the only reason eBay got a stake was because one of the early insiders sold out. The rest are adamant that that won't happen. In any case, I think eBay has a similar system set up called kijiji(?)

Craigslist "ain't" Ebay. Ebay is so frustrated with it's meaningless stake that they're suing Craigslist as we speak. http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/04/23/145255&from=rss

People who sell products in the fashion that they're sold on Ebay are immediately suspected as scammers.

Buy "only" locally. Anyone trying to sell a product from out of the area "is" a scammer. When I sell products on Craigslist, the first people that call are cheating jokers.

Adamant is only a matter of money. Offer enough, adamant becomes compliant.

The fact that CL already has a fee option set up should give you some sense of which way the wind is blowing.

That's depressing news. I have no desire to use Paypal on the majority of stuff I sell.

eBay seems to be shooting itself in the foot often lately.

(Didn't used to work well in Safari but fine in other browsers, they may have fixed Safari issues.)

I LOVE selling on ebay - CL just isn't big enough in my area...

or I just LOVE seeing prices go through the roof. When I can sell a 2.16 24" imac with an external drive for $1700 on CL I'm there, but in the mean time. Ebay/ paypal has been wonderful for me.
