Stanley has a cup? I hope he remembers to wear it if he ever plays any real sport or at least one that doesn't depend on fist fights or auto wrecks to draw an audience.

I grew up in south Alabama, and I know jack crap about hockey (as far as I'm concerned, "icing" is what you put on a birthday cake), but I enjoy the hell out of the NHL playoffs these days. Hockey is pretty darn awesome in high definition.

Our President avails himself of prepubescent humor, too.

That was probably the best hockey game I have ever watched (the miracle on ice didn't have so much great action), although my team lost, so I was exhausted and disappointed by the time I crawled to bed. After a slow start in the 1st period, Detroit completely dominated the action, often looking like they were on a power play continually, except for a few critical minutes at the end of regulation. Fluery was amazing.
The upside is we get to watch game 6 and maybe game 7 now.

lol! That's good, coming from someone who likes the kids game with balls & sticks! My reference was to the violence each sport brings to it's audience; as a youth coach I know there are better ways to expend that energy and the results usually prove out. We play a full schedule of games with NO end result but that the kids learn. That's at the local park level. We also play to the death at the local YMCA level. What was your point anyway?

Hockey doesn't translate well on TV, but live...there is NOTHING like watching hockey live. Maybe HD helps with the television problem. It is one of the most exciting sports to watch live. Every time that I've taken people to a hockey game they are always impressed by the amazing combination of grace and aggression. Once you take in a hockey game live you realize how incredibly boring baseball, basketball, and football are.

What was your point anyway? My point was your disparaging reference to hockey as not being a real sport.

What was your point anyway? My point was your disparaging reference to hockey as not being a real sport. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how wrong it is. Some people think that Basketball is a sport too. To each their own. I personally can't stand a sport with no challenge. Basketball falls into that category. Anytime the games is scored 2 points at a time and the point totals near 200 that should be a sign that the game has no challenge to it at all. Just exercise. But that is my opinion. Many people obviously disagree. My point is that once one watches hockey live the opinion tends to change. |
