Can't see why you would watch such an unfolding tragedy at all, swampy. Are you also attracted to train wrecks? :o
You guys keep telling me it's history being made. Why wouldn't I want to watch?

I'm tentatively planning to go and bring the little ones if possible. It does depend on the weather forecast, though.

Because you don't believe anything else that we tell you.
Guess I'm not that easy to brainwash, am I?

I lived in DC in 1993 at the time of Clinton's first inauguration. Just the preparations so disrupted the city, our offices were closed the two days prior. The actual day was a federal holiday for the DC region. With the availability of real-time media feeds today, you'd be hard pressed to entice me to be participate in real life, no matter how historical the day may be.

I've received a few calls today for people looking for tickets. Most of them seem to be little old African-American ladies who probably remember life under Jim Crow.
I attended Clinton's inauguration in 1997. Your ticket gave you a pass to stand on a certain section of the Mall. Big video screens were present. That night, there were Inaugural balls all around town. You'd stand around in your tux, eat rubber chicken, get in line for the cash bar and wait for the President and First Lady to show up (we waited until 2 am), make some insipid, brief quip, dance and then leave. Then everyone rushes for the coat check.
The parties around DC that weekend were much more fun and had free food and drink.
