I see one every day. One of my co-workers owns one. It's in pretty descent shape. He just had it painted last year. Back when gas was $4+ a gallon, people were asking and getting top dollar for these things. A 1996 model sold for $7300 on ebay. In 1995, the Metro sold for $9000 new.

Well, you have to remember that you don't see too many cars made before 2000 anywhere any more either.
True, except for: There are all kinds of cars older than 2000 on the roads here in Cali. And especially true: There are probably even Geo Metros (the plant that made a lot of them is right here in Fremont), but I would never notice an older Geo if I saw one because it's an unremarkable car among other unremarkable cars. And furthermore... I see one every day. I often see two, sometimes three on my daily commute. One red and one green two-door and one green four-door, all depending on my timing. There the same ones. Both the green ones are driving by cute females.

I saw one yesterday on the road, and last evening my friend was telling me his son recently gifted his Geo Metro to his younger sister. She needed a reliable car!

not the same car or build, but we have a 1991 Geo Prizm that's running great (knock wood).
main reason is it's a Toyota Corolla, rebadged. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Prizm

I live in the rust belt, too.
I see a Yugo (yellow) every day. The back half of one bolted to the side outside wall of an auto body shop. I guess they're not too worried about someone unbolting it and stealing it at night. :fawkdance:

I see at least one a week on my commute. There was a Metro version that got 51 MPG, and that was almost 20 years ago. I still see Pintos every month or so. Now Vegas, those you don't see anymore.

Today, next to me in the parking lot. The guy that owns it has had it since new, drives it every day to work on his 6-mile commute on a country road.
