But the bigger question is, when do you say Autumn starts? In the States, we've always said the seasons are officially set by the equinoxes, but it turns out that this doesn't really mean much in the sense of true "seasons." When I lived in Australia, I was surprised that Winter "started" on June 1, instead of June 21, which I would have assumed.
Is it true summer in Ireland starts May 1? -Tofer
