Yes, and yes. A rock-solid case does not guarantee a good outcome in court. An-y-thing can happen in court. It is ridiculous and even heartbreaking at times. Trust me. The legal system generally works like it should -- but only on TV and in the movies. But it's all we have. So that's why you see plea bargains in cases that look like standard open-and-shut.
