you are in the middle of a migration? right? tons of processing power from that...
istat widget can tell you what temps things are running... FWIW, my 24" AL imac gets pretty damn hot on the upper left top as well...
EDIT: Leader! did you get all 8 gigs from apple?
Yeah I got all 8 gigs from Apple.
yeowch, that cost a mint... and this being the "deals" forum:
Im about to order an i5 as well, $1850 AR from macconnection + another 4 gigs from OWC for $99 (to get 8 gigs) = $1950 total, no tax, free shipping
the 8 gig i5 from apple would set me back $2397 with tax...$450 more.
i guess the only advantage is that you still have 2 slots open, where as mine are all full...

Can you do us a favor? Run Geekbench on it right after you reboot. Post your score.
Also, do you have photoshop? There's another benchmark I would like you to run.

All the Intel iMac run hot in the upper left back side of the enclosure. Really hot.
That's were the power supply lives.

I have the 20" 2.66 C2D and I got a friend to switch to a 24" and I both machines the display is very bright. I ended up reducing the screen brightness on both machines and that made a big difference in the heat coming off of them.
