Whodda thunk it?
Not a great shot of it, but it looks OK to me.
But the name cracks me up. It reminds me of the odd names of some of the early Toyta cars.

That would fit my lifestyle well. Too bad it would probably cost about $30k. Trucks should never cost more than about 1/4 of the median annual income of the US.(excluding Bill Gates and Warren Buffet). I just need something to haul a bit of junk to the dump, or get out for skiing or Mtn Biking. This would be perfect, especially if it came with a Diesel 5 spd manual transmission option.

Looks almost exactly like a Honda Ridgeline, but I doubt that to be anything more than skin deep... unless VW has some sort of agreement with the Honda peeps that is not publicized.

I'm with Rick-o on this - I just don't get the recent popularity of teeny-bed "Trucks". If I need a truck, I'm gonna get something that can haul long loads.

2 liter diesel with a regular cab and larger bed and I'd be set. I need to replace my aging 1987 Mitsu pretty soon. Unfortunately it doesn't look like this VW is coming to he USA.

"The VW naming department is probably awesome. We're betting it goes like this: "Let's do drugs and read local-language editions of Encyclopedia Brittanica." And that's how the Inuit word for "wolf" came to name this new truck, the VW Amarok."

IMHO I don't understand why people think everyone that needs a truck has to have a full-size
truck. Unless you run a business most people would only need a full-size truck maybe 3 or 4
times a year. We live on farm with 36 head of cattle and don't even have a truck. We have a
Tahoe Z71, a 14' cattle trailer and a 8' utility trailer. Tags on trailers are much cheaper than
upkeep, insurance, and weighted tags for trucks. You can call an SUV a truck all day long but
to me and the DMV of NC if it doesn't have a bed on it it's not a truck. I can tow as much
weight as I need and not have to buy a weighted tag. We sold our 1 ton Chevy Dump truck
and traded the pickup truck in because we never used them. Our trailers do everything we
need, even haul a 20' steel driveway culvert, trash to the landfill or 5 head of cattle.

Well, I'll bet on my RAM 2700 in a head to head test. :punch:
