Well, I did it the old-fashioned way, rather than let Time Machine restore it and create a "recovered messages" folder that I'd then have to sort through. I dragged my existing Mail folder from my ~Library to the Trash. Then I went to my backup drive and found the Mail folder in the ~Library there and dragged it into my main drive's ~Library folder. I restarted the computer (probably not necessary, but what the hell), opened mail, and they're all there. The only housekeeping I had to do was to click on a few emails that had been flagged as unread, even though I knew they had been.
Anyway, all's well. Thanks for your efforts. BTW, the reason I was confused about your right-clicking instruction is that I have my mailbox column always show by default. So I thought you were talking about the headings that appear after a search is performed, which of course explains why a right-click did nothing on that "From". ![]()

I was going to say … especially when you referred to it as the from folder—ain't no such thing.
But if it were me I wouldn't have limited my search at all, and left it at "Entire Message" for "All Mailboxes." |
