I can't find my install DVD for Leopard
#11
What Ken said.

In fact, I've read that Snow will upgrade a Tiger install.

I can't find my Tiger disk to upgrade a Panther Install, and it's more than Leopard online.

so if i erase my external drive for a clean install, i can install SL directly? No trying to load anything to it first?

I found my Tiger discs in my computer bag just now - the ones that came with my MBP. Strange, why would I keep them there?? Still missing the Leopard ones though.

Yes. SL is only an upgrade by license. The disc itself can do a full install, but legally you can only install SL if you own a Leopard license.

Just pop the snow disk in and run it. See what happens, Have faith.

When I travelled, that's where I kept mine. Won't do you any good if you need then and don't have them.

bottom line is if you honestly bought the previous OS license, you just need to buy SL OS, and do a full install from scratch. You do not have to justify it to us. It is technically possible, simple, and preferred in my mind.

Just do it.

YEs I have an intel MBP. SL says its only an upgrade though.

What do you mean I do not need Leopard. SL does a complete install for $29??
Yes.
I purchased the $30 Snow Leopard upgrade disc. It installed full Snow Leopard on a blank drive with no existing OS to upgrade.

You only know you'll buy it and then 10 minutes later find the discs... (At least that's what usually happens to me...)
