Still have the SD card slot. Deal killer for me.

Bring back the ExpressCard/34 in the 15" and it becomes appealing. 17" is too big, I had the G4 version at one time.

As it is, I'm going to have to wait in the Apple store for an older refurb (they do have those occasionally.)

Oh, and the 17" not having an i7 option? What's up with that?

Still only two USB slots? In this day and age? I can think of four devices that people could want to use simultaneously; mouse, hard drive, card reader, wireless cell card.

You can't compare the two. Back when I bought my 15" three years ago, I too avoided the 17" because it was too bulky. The current 17" feels like my old 15", and has a much nicer screen than the 15", to boot.

I've been waiting for this day since Christmas, when I gave my 15" to my stepson as a gift. Papa's getting a new MBP!

There are 3 on the 17."

If you got one of the smaller models maybe you could limp along with "crappy FireWire" for one of the items in your list? If it's not too much of a hardship.
