Because nobody else makes THIS. If Apple makes something entirely new then they own the market. Who cares if they lose some of their own laptop sales to their own device? The goal will be to steal customers from the netbook market. The goal is profits. They sell a lot more laptops than they will iPads. Apple isn't a company to shoot itself in the foot with their own products.
