Back to the actual subject after a certain person's non-medicare hijacking... I know my 75 year old mother thinks Ryan's plan is a disaster. I'd also think that governors can't be fond of it either. The states are going to have to come up with more money with this plan.

What I am asking is revenue-neutral to the employer, if they are telling the truth. ALl we need is a simple change to tax laws. And no, $300 a month would not cut it. It is more like a $1000 a month. That is what they claim it is costing them now.
12K a year wouldn't bump you up into a higher tax bracket ?
- to lose on an expense
so, you want 1K to go out and buy cheaper insurance ?
and pocket the difference ?
good luck with that. your co-workers would consider that a raise.
Good point on moving into higher bracket, but it depends. As for the "raise", who said I am the only one who gets it? Employers will be out of insurance business for everybody. You see, for all the tough talk about evil insurance companies, this is the plan they hate most. They have to be on TV more than Flo to get my business. What do all the tough talking anti-insurance company people offer? Mandates. Insurance companies don't give a hoot about mandates because they just charge more for them.

Our little experiment isn't doing much for insurance or health costs here. Yet.
Miracles weren't supposed to happen overnight.
Might not happen.
Can always go back to every man for himself.
Doubt there will be much of a middle class left if we do.
Despite all the party rhetoric and accusatory dogma, gotta do something - the fifties aren't coming back any time soon.

Personally, I don't know enough about the voucher plan to weigh in on it.
Well, I can say this, if it is any type of voucher plan that adds more paperwork, decisions, even choices, then I am against it. I have seen how complicated private insurance is and I have seen what it is like under Medicare, and the amount of headaches with Medicare is 1/10th of what it is with private insurers.
While this is possibly an honest answer, I consider it to be more of a cop out. You seem to be pretty well versed on what the Republicans are proposing and usually are a big supporter of same. To say, I don't know enough about it, seems like an easy way out, or maybe, since you already have the benefit of a good, relatively inexpensive, single payer system, you don't need to worry about those of us who will be subjected to it.
I call wimp out on this one, sorry.

It doesn't matter what i say here, I always seem to somehow get called out.
To say that because I may be comfortable in my current "Medicare" state and have no concern for the fate of the younger generations smacks of some preconceived judgmental opinion you have if me, rgG. I am not heartless. Geeez.

First, it is because of what you say, and have said over and over again, that I called you out on this one. That, and the fact that you have a very intimate knowledge the Medicare system, and should at least have an opinion on how the current system works, or doesn't work.
You usually support all the right wing agendas that come down the pike, now with this one, it is, "I don't know enough." It does matter what you say here, and any notion I have of you is only because of the bile I have seen you spew forth on this forum. As far as you being heartless, I will say that I have seen that tone in many of your previous posts, so that may be where I got that impression.
This issue us of particular interest to me and one that I would think you would have an opinion on, since you seemed to have had a lot of opinions on Obamacare when it was being debated. If you were so against a single payer system, like Obama wanted to have in the mix, I would assume that you would be all for Medicare going that way, especially since that is what the conservative Republicans seem to want so much. But, maybe you have seen how well the single payer system has worked, and now you might be a little reluctant to endorse this new plan, even though it comes from one of your right wing darlings.
I am an independent. I have no trouble disliking a lot of what both sides do, so don't assume I am a liberal at all costs. I just hate to see some ultra right wing, birth certificate demanding person like you, have no opinion on something this important. So yes, I am calling you out on this issue, and you did not answer the call.

I don't know much about it either. What is your theory about me?

You only get called out when you post something grossly unfair to others.
