We replaced our aging Cuisinart with a Kitchen Aid last year. The former had a better selection of blades, but the parts were starting to go and were ridiculously expensive. (And, of course, the new models won't handle our old blades).
I think it was the sticker shock on parts that got us to switch. I liked the wider feed tube in the Cuisinart, but the Kitchen Aid is quieter and easier to clean.

When we shopped for one a couple years ago we found a lot of bad reviews on Cuisinart. The most common issue is that the way the lid attaches or the way the safety switch (the part that insures the lid is on for it to run) were very fragile and prone to breaking.
When we looked at store, sure enough this was a common item to see broken in display models.
We ended up with a kitchen aid... I think from bed, bath & beyond with a 10% off coupon that's pretty easy to find.

Kitchenaid. Cuisinarts break and they are a bigger PITA to clean than Kitchenaids.

My mom ended up purchasing a $40 black and decker which handled the zucchini just fine. I was wondering if I should add a food processor to my kitchen arsenal anyway. It appears a kitchen aid, which would match my other appliances, would run about $150. I'm having hard time thinking of just when I would use it though. Making zucchini relish once a year just isn't enough of an incentive. What else do you guys use your food processors for?
Btw, I already have a very nice kitchen aid blender and a big pro bowl mixer.
