I have a Craftsman Shopvac that does that.

Thankfully the QC Mac Pro has four drive bays, so all the cats can have their own drive; Bay 2 is Lion. The G5 quad tower only has two drive bays, and can't run Lion, or even Snow Leopard, but then it doesn't need Rosetta either :-). I have external Lions for the the MBP's... the older C2D w/ 4GB RAM tolerates Lion, I won't say embraces the king of the jungle yet, nor do I see it ever really doing so. The new quad i7 MBP w/ 16GB is a Lion lovin' piece of aluminum... it's kind of a toss up along w/ the Mac Pro (only 12GB RAM), as each take their turn beating the other at Lion stuff, so I'd have to call it pretty much a draw, though the tower's peppier video clearly is in its favor, but the tower doesn't (easily) fit into the travel bag. Overall, if you throw enough resources at it, Lion seems to respond well. The UI quirks, and lack of Rosetta are what they are; it's not like we have a choice. At this point, it's mostly an adoption and acceptance of a migrating attitude, and definitely not kicking the other cats to the curb anytime soon. Apple seems to be hooking folks w/ this one, but not really allowing even slightly older hardware to perform w/ real aplomb... kinda sneaky, like they want everyone to buy new stuff... but it seems when *everything* eventually goes to the cloud, we'll need kick ass connectivity, and serious graphics, but raw processing power should not be such a premium at that point. Lion feels very much like a transitory product, which I would argue it is.

I just purchased a 27" iMac and the upgrade was misirable!

It dosen't support any of the PPC aps that I use all the time.

It is a HUGE disapointent that I can't use or access some of my programs, especially Now Up To Date where I have lost my past calandar and future contacts!

The list goes on from there...

Snow Leopard and Tiger will probably go down as the best OSes of the 10 series. IMHO, Lion is a transition OS, as I expect ML will be.

I look at iCloud as a feature of the OS, much like the Map functions on many new cars. The cars themselves (the OS of the Mac) are still doing the same jobs, albeit much better than what your grandfather grew up with.

It really (by the posts here) sounds like it's a worthless upgrade other then to loose your PPC apps and having the need to add additional memory to your computer. Feeling the need to "keep up with Apple or get left behind, I'll just have to put up with it" mentality is sort of weak. IMHO, a new OS should be something to be excited about. I don't read any excitement here, just mundane posts. "I'm happy with it" = I couldn't find any features to write about.

I think I'll hold off on this one, no one has mentioned anything about any "wow!" factors associated with Lion. I'm sticking with OS 9, it's the future of the Mac. Tongue

Just my 2 cents,

IMHO this isn't going to happen nearly as much anymore because the technology has matured.

Don't assume that just because we haven't regurgitated Apple's PR sheet or copied and pasted a list of features from their web site that we don't appreciate them. I mentioned the RAM issue only because it's the only known gotcha. If I don't list any other gotchas it's because I feel there aren't any. The corollary is that everything else is OK or better, even if not explicitly mentioned.

Speaking of which, the extra RAM usage is more than offset by the new autosave and built-into-the-apps Time Machine-like versioning feature (for those apps that make use of it).

If a new OS meant that much to me, I'd read all 19 pages of something like this, so I'd at least understand what's new and different before passing judgement. After that, you can still come back and gripe about the changes and why they axed a feature here or added one there that didn't match your personal wish list.
