There are unreasoning fears that paralyze you, and there are 'cautious' reactions to potential threats.
I used to be an agoraphile. Heights ? Woo hoo ! Free climbing ? Awesome ! Jumping off cliffs into lakes 60 feet below ? Yee-haw ! Now that I know I'm very breakable, I'm more cautious. I'm not paralyzed, but I've partially frozen on a ladder 30 feet in the air a few times. Then I deal with it and get the job done. Last week I went up to the top of the CN Tower in Toronto, and stood on the 'glass floor'. A definite adrenaline thrill, but I was OK with it. Beyond that.. black cats ? Hi Ava ! (one of our cats is black) Bugs ? HI there ! What kind of buggie are you ? Snakes ? Here.. let me catch you... ow ! Walking under ladders ? Sure.. ladder's in the way and it's the easiest path.

None-but I couldn't serve in (on?) a submarine. I'm not claustrophobic but it amazes me anyone could spend an 84 day tour never seeing the sun ... And submarines these days are cruise ships compared to early subs. God bless you all that serve or have served on pig boats.
