what do you call people who require immediate response from you?

Annoyances.

I can't count how many times my wife has walked in with "I've got a project for you," interrupting whatever it was I was doing. "Now?" I ask. "Well, not necessarily. . ."

Of course she thinks that the time I spend "on the computer" is utterly frivolous. Not that she's entirely wrong, but. . .

High Maintenance.

Seriously, my wife and I would have divorced years ago if we had demanded instant response all the time.

I see this a lot with the younger crowd. They expect immediate responses, yet don't feel it's necessary for them to respond immediately. I blame the cell phones and texting... they think that texts are instantaneous and don't understand if someone doesn't respond right away.

i totally agree. it's an instant gratification kind of generation. i had a girlfriend once who amazed me in that she didn't immediately jump up and answer the phone when it rang. i was raised that you try to answer by the second ring. it was very liberating to realize one didn't have to. in fact, you could choose not to answer at all. what a concept.

OTOH, if my 21 year old son doesn't answer my text i am fit to be tied and start to assume to something terrible has happened...

Here's the funny thing...
SINCE my post in this topic, I got FIVE calls from a guy wanting to know when our range is open this weekend... Since I don't take or return personal calls from work, he just had to wait for a reply.
Apparently, five hours drove him insane.

Insane, like we'll be reading about him in tomorrow's news?

Depends. Try telling him the range is closed all weekend or that he isn't welcome.
