If I have to go to a hospital again, I would choose one with some cachét which I would hope was supported by great staff and tech.
That such a place might be shrouded in more attractive architecture, than say- a M.A.S.H. OR, would give me some solace.
Not that I generally do the book/cover thing, but the best trauma team with the greatest gear wouldn't mean much on an emotional level with being wheeled into the 4077th.
So if there's a good staff and good kit, give 'em a nice looking place to go to work.

I spent 2011-2014 in the clutches of the local University Medical Center, they almost killed me twice. Much to their chagrin, I got better anyway, lol.

I was more concerned about why they tried to bill me $500 for an asthma inhaler that they refused to let me bring for my hospital visit, when it is $180 at my pharmacy, without any insurance. The color or art in the lobby didn't mean squat to me.

Can anyone spot the building in the OP?
Yes, in the background on the right.

Stating opinions as though they are fact does nothing (at best) for your arguments. If there are studies, then cite them. If you've got nothing, then please start out all of your sentences with "My wildass guess is..."
This should be a Sticky, whether or not it applies to K's post.
At least, that's my personal opinion.
Agreed. There are too many people on too many forums who repeatedly make authoritative sounding statements without doing a lick of research or citing facts. Those folks then encourage others to make baseless statements. It's probably my pet peeve of forumland.
Davester,
You need to learn to read for detail. That is what you need to do. You make way to many mistakes.

Believe it or not the Rush University Medical Center is a function before form design catering to the needs of the patients and nurses.
It might look unconventional because it is ! It is supposed to be.

I love function before form. I don't completely buy it though. It was designed as an efficient, green building..fine. Have you ever been there, Bill? On a regular basis..enough to understand where it falls down and becomes a place where lots of money was spent on spaces that are completely useless in every way, spaces that people do not give one shit about that cost a lot of money? Hospitals don't need to be glimmering showpieces. Rush has so much 'air' in it.
I'm there all the time, at Rush. Have been for quite a few years now.. there are numerous issues that make me...???
I have questions..and, most likely, Rush is not the worst of the bunch. When you make the juxtaposition with all of the problems in the American healthcare megacomplex..it has to make one wonder about the basic direction things are going in. Which was the point of the thread
..We're at or around 3 stitches for $2,229.00. It can be less, it can be more..insanity. And when you look at these facilities it has to cause some consideration of how the admins prioritze.

The building design is supposed to deflate cynicism and pessimism.
Maybe you have to be a patient to appreciate it ?
You might love MGH in Boston. It's built like a mazed prison that one would be willing to die get out of.
