What theatrics will Trumpo have to delay his Monday trial?

I vote this:

6) Shows up in a bath robe with a walker, claims to be mentally unfit for trial.

7) Shows up wearing a MAGA cap and the judge instantly finds him mentally unfit for trial.

In all seriousness, he can't cause a delay at this point unless his crack legal team can find some more BS to throw at the judge. Being sick or obnoxious or whatever isn't going to stop this now.

either way, should be a good week for late night monologues.

Anybody here know what the rules are for the jury selection, in terms of whether Trump's lawyers get to question or talk to the jurors? Will it be mostly or all by the judge? The lawyers will be attempting to try the case from the start, and jury selection is a major part of this.

I don't know how the hell they'll find any jurors who by now have no knowledge of the case or defendant, or have not formed an opinion. They're going to have to lower that bar. And how many peremptory challenges can each side have?

There are a set of questions the jurors will answer in advance, the lawyers can read over those responses and both sides can question the prospective jurors on those answers. The judge will also ask if they know anyone on either side of the case. Both sides will get a set number of preemptive challenges which means they can dismiss someone without giving cause. They also get a unlimited number of challenges which generally less to a dismissal for cause (like wearing a MAGA hat). Jurors who neither side have issues with are then seated and eventually they have 15 (12 + 3 alternate).

As for finding a group who have no opinion or knowledge of the case, they are just looking for the most uninterested person that can be found, and then expect them to be interested. They just need 15 human slugs out of a Manhatten adult population of around 1.5M.

I'm guessing that that one thing they all might have in common to make it past both sides is that none of them voted in the 2016 or 2020 presidential election.
