Israel attacks Iran

Terrorists understand nothing but retaliation. Any other reaction is judged to be weakness. Israel had few choices once Iran launched on them. Ignoring the attacks was never an option. This is not the first time Iran has pulled a stunt like this targeting Israel. They do it again, and they will be dealt with again. And again. And again. The message is clear and blunt.

Reason has little freeplay here. It is unfortunate, but it is the nature of the beast. This may quiet things down or it may escalate them. The next few days - and how other neighboring countries react - will be important clues as to how this will play out.

Kinda looks like both parties "understand nothing but retaliation."
Obviously if one is an Iranian, the Israelis are terrorists. They also believe that we are the great Satan and we should all die. There is a nasty world out there.

US had advance warning of Israel's retaliation against Iran but "didn't endorse" it, US official says...

But who paid for the drone and missiles?

Basic retaliation 101. No country wouldn't have struck back. You can't let your enemy punk you. You "have" to retaliate.

Do people think that a millennia of the rules of conflict has changed?

Detante? Between Iran and Israel? You can forget about that. In the meantime, conflict is going to be conflict. Tit for tat. Any country for any reason that attacks America (for example) is going to be attacked back.

We got billboards on the sides of every road filled with Lawyer missiles to take out neighbors for fender benders.

When Iran fired missiles at Israel, it knew there would be a counterattack. The real question for Iran was whether Israel would discover the architect of the October 7 attacks in an Iranian consulate building. So far, the back and forth between Israel and Iran seems to be under control, and playing out under a set of rules and understandings.

Yup, that really accomplished much. Much more violence and hate.

I'm in the camp that the hate will never subside. Sooner or later we will be in an unwinnable war that the U.S. will ultimately pay for over and over. This war will accomplish much.

Much more violence and hate. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat...

When was the last time a nation destroyed another nation's embassy/consulate in a third country? Terrorists and terrorist groups have made such efforts in the past, and I understand that this is the Middle East with its various proxies, but Israel's attack was clearly ordered from the top, unapologetically.

Consider if some random country blew up another country's consulate/embassy building in New York City or Washington with a missile strike because they said there was a murderer inside they wanted dead. Would we say, Well, okay, probably justified. None of our folks were killed; no problem?

So, when do we expect Iran to retaliate?

So it was OK for Israel to bomb a diplomatic facility?

Destroying the embassy was the bigger thing by far. Some seem to have forgotten how our embassy in Iran was invaded and destroyed beginning in 1979.

That cycle has been completed.

Any more "offensive" activity by Iran would be to demonstrate to Israel that they "see" what Isreal is "doing" and to remind them that they're not cool with it.

The subsequent retaliation by Israel would be to remind Iran, that they don't care how Iran feels and that they're not gonna take their $h!t.
